about this story

When I finally entered the city of stone , I carried my camera hidden under my jacket (a small bribe was necessary) .
Colored eyes watched from every corner for the least deviation from the party hardline . Everywhere the Pretorian guard scrutinised the gestures , the furtive smiles , the bowed heads of the downtrodden citizens . I stumbled upon a tiny cakeshop in the old quarter where I bought a delicious strawberry and cream sponge cake . As I ate the cake , sharing it with some of the children outside , I tasted a tart freshness almost akin to freedom and could see the shining energy of hope in the children . 'You can´t take this moment away from me' , I thought . And when I got on the bus home , I carried with me that taste and the photos that would irk the regime for many months to come .
