about this story

My heart raced as the table full of girls jumped up and down almost stumbling on there 7 inch heels.I hadnt seen Allison's friends in a year and i suddenly remembered why. I stared at the pastel card with butterflys. save the date. I wondered how on earth Allison is old enough to get married. Just 2 summers ago we shared our first legal drink. Now im flying away from my big city with streaming lights off to Arizona to be a maid of honor.Allison and I have been best friends since the first time she dared me to eat glue but I havent seen her in 2 years. I stepped on to the plane following the walking barbies and prepared for the 5 hour flight. I propped my converse onto the seat and rested against the window raising the volume on my ipod and reaching for my coffee...It was 2:30 by the time we landed in Phoenix and jetlagged doesnt begin to describe how i felt. I watched a lizard dash across my feet and then Allison pulled up with a shiny red convertababil. The other girls crowded her all screaming and taking turns hugging her. She was beautiful as always but was different. She had long beach blond locks and she looked really skinny and tall. She was wearing a lot of make up and bright red lipstick. After she could escape her circle of friends she made her way over to me. she ran as fast as she could in her heels laughing and hugging me. Then we all piled in her expensize car. I expected we would go to her big fancy house for dinner and a nap, but we arrived at Joanns fabric store. Flowers. I tried my best to smile and tell Allison that each and every flower she showed me would look pretty but after an hour my feet hurt and I sneaked out to the car. By the time we got home, it was 5:00 and there was more planning to be done. Allison and the girls hovered over a huge binder while I was stuck walking her dog, Barney, and watching football with Steven, Allisons Fiance. The girl in the room next door was not my best friend. The next plane back to New york took off at 8:30 and I would be on it.I didnt leave angry or sad but complete to know we had both gone our seperate ways and i was okay with that.Though, I couldnt help wonder how long it would take for them to notice I was gone.
