about this story

(Based off of the game by the same title by NaughtyDog)

We live in a post-apocalyptic world. The outbreak started just five years ago, and in order to cleanse the States from getting a hold of another outbreak, the government randomly selects 12 people from each state to kill each month. A ban on people with diseases, the CDC issued a sanction to where people, diseased or not, are given a number at birth. This is how we are identified and how we know when we live and when we die. It's sloppy, but I guess it works. What sucks is the fact that, even if someone was just born, they still have a chance at this roulette sort of death. Whether a person is 6 or 65, the Authorities don't care; they're cold-hearted humans who don't deserve the life they have. Word around here has it that the Authorities and Officials cheat death -- the rules don't apply to them.

Yuck.
