about this story

Living on the concrete, is a flower; surely, this flower should not have even been grown, but by all odds of life, it did. The leaf of the flower goes through a process called photosynthesis in which plant cells convert CO2 and H2O into O2 and sugars (glucose). In a lake farther away, all life has grown. It is a biodiverse ecosystem, but it seems as if an algal growth is beginning to appear. This may turn into an algal bloom, causing the lake to become a dead zone.

In biology, we were learning about photosynthesis. In APES, we learned about algal blooms, dead zones, ecosystems and how algal blooms affect ecosystems.

This has stuck in my mind because it is a possibility that I may become a biology major to pursue a medical career (nursing major is very competitive; next best major is biology).
