about this story

In Gilbert Ryle's famous quote, "In searching for the self, one cannot simultaneously be the hunter and the hunted.", He states that a person's true personality cannot be found within himself but with what he is behaving. In the first 2 pictures, it represents two different scenarios in finding the self. The police represents a person who finds the true personality of a person but not finding it within themselves. The second picture represents the self's personality that Gilbert Ryle is referring to to being hunted. On the third picture, it represents Ryle's "Ghost in the Machine" theory which states that there is a mysterious entity called the mind that controls the mechanical workings of the body. The fourth pic represents a person struggling to find his true self and the last pic represents a person which Ryle says that a person's body is just a machine that is being controlled by a so called ghost.

In conclusion, people tend to find their true self with acceptance and approval by others. Finding answers from others on what the kind of person they really but they must know that the true personality of a person is always within and inside themselves. We must not be controlled by ourselves but to be the controller of our own life.
