about this story

I grew up in a dilapidated and dying town in west Texas. There weren't many people left in this old place; seems they were leaving in droves. As a young person, there wasn't much to do unless you were dared to climb up to the water tower. One day, while out exploring, I found a tunnel. I immediately understood it was a very long one, since there was no light at the end that I could tell. I entered. I walked for a long time and it reminded me of the road to our house after the cutoff. Folks always complained about how long it took to get to our house. After a while I began to see a pinhole of light then finally exited the tunnel. Things looked oddly familiar. Then it came to me. This is my town! This was my town in its heyday years ago. "Hey, there, young man! What took you so long?" said an old man on a bench. "Wait... Grandpa?"
