Sigmund Freud (1856 to 1939) was the founding father of psychoanalysis, a method for treating mental illness and also a theory which explains human behavior.
Sigmund Freud postulated that are three layers of self within us all the id, ego, and superego. Sigmund Freud's work theories helped shape our views of childhood, personality, memory, sexuality, and therapy. his experiences informed many of his theories, so learning more about his life and the times he lived in can lead to deeper understanding of where his theory came from.
