about this story

It all started with the mushroom we shared, piece by piece until it was nothing. We looked left and right, then up and down, then left and right again. The speed must have been the speed of an airplane because the world was going too fast to slow it down. We were spinning and rotating on this ferris wheel in the dark, our faces to the earth and then our faces to the sky. We took a journey through the dessert, puffing our tobacco, drinking our rum. Passing the empty coyote shells, thinking about what they were saying when they howled in the dark. The sky was flamingo and space; every time we gazed up it was just another hall of mirrors in our fun house expedition. We were trapped in this jail cell of fuchsia, cyan, magnolia, violet, blood orange, turquoise and a shade of blue. This trip was this hell we couldn't escape. We were the different sides of Alice in our own wonderland. We could peer through a crack in the door to see what was on the other side, but it only came as a surprise when our expectations were skewed. We finally made it to the end of our journey, giggling, crying, screaming and cursing. We felt feelings that were so far from home that we didn't know how to react. We escaped for just a mere minute, but that minute gave us a whole new eye to look through, another mirror to look beyond.
