about this story

“Education” as we used to define it as focusing on reading, writing and arithmetic is no longer effective in preparing our students for the 21st Century. The evolved definition focuses on teaching and reinforcing real-world workplace skills; thus creating an individual who is an independent thinker. Although the conversation is often “pointed”, we, as educators, must continue on with the “tides of change”. Throughout the evolutionary process, we may sometimes feel like the “blue elephant” in the room but we must accept our roles and responsibilities as being agents of change. In the end, we will “take a bite” out of the way education is viewed.
