She stood beside the fire to warm her frozen hands. She remembered her walk beneath the light-encrusted trees. Branches bloomed bright beams, where blossoms would burst in the spring. Basking in the embers of the fire, eyes watered by smoke, she saw the sky ablaze with streams of light.
