about this story

The world is full of many naturally beautiful spaces such as the monument. These resources are limited in our ever expanding need for more 'living' space. The second photo shows what has happened to many of our natural spaces as construction crews devour the landscape. The monument area is now reduced to a "hard hat area". However, there is the voice of resistance that still lingers in our human conscience. A protester has emerged to lead a crusade to retain some sacred area for reflection and the art of being human. As a result a park has been incorporated into the urban landscape, complete with a reflection pool for children of all ages to dangle their feet in the cool water or families to enjoy a moment removed from the 'rat race'. The final photo shows a woman celebrating this small victory for humankind. She is throwing her arm up in jubilent excitement as the new park fills with people struggling to regain a disappearing touch with our natural world.
