I started off as a precocious little boy. rather ugly my father said. Beautiful my mother said - but then she would. I remember seeing photos of myself when I was young and I would tend to agree with dear old Dad.
they both had high hopes for me and in my own way I did not let them down. I travelled a lot and encountered many people who shaped my life and ultimately made me who I am today. political activist, travel writer, humanitarian, motivational speaker. Oh! Did I mention the accident. Travelling in Ireland I was unlucky to be an unfortunate side-note in an attempted IRA bombing. I lost my foot and three fingers on my right hand. I suppose that Daddy would say that was poetic justice. Ugly at birth and deformed nearer death.
