Kaitlyn had made this really good soup but I didn't get to finish it because Mrs. Longwell came early to take me up to the lake for the regatta in her huge black car with Richard and Victoria in the back. Nobody was surprised that I won all the swimming events, Richard and Victoria weren't even mad about it, and when they talked about how we three would all be going to Strasburg School together in the fall I thought it was just some kind of fantasy because we can't afford things like the Longwells do and anyway Kaitlyn would have told me. But it wasn't a fantasy, it was real, Kaitlyn just hadn't gotten around to saying anything about it for some reason. And that's how the next thing you know here I am with my own official school laptop getting ready for official school bed and staring up at this weird official school chandelier on the dorm ceiling, with not the first fucking idea of what the next few years might possibly be like.
