I saw it. I saw THEM. Their wings fluttering gently, keeping in time with the breeze, skirting across the feild. They skimmed across branches, playing a bizzare game of catch. They seem to dart back and forth, but all this is done gracefully, never dramatically halting or accidently slamming into a tree. I gazed at them from my bedroom window, mesmorized.
The next day, I ran outside to see if they possibly had taken camp in my backyard and were still there. Worst luck, they weren't. But they had left their mark. Their tears dotted plants and caught the sunlight. They had painted all the flowers in the yard dazzling colors, and sprayed them with a fresh perfume. It was beautiful, and I knew who had done it.
My mother keeps insisting that it's all my imagination. That it never really happened,was just some strange sight. But I knew what I had seen, and I would never agree that it wasn't true. And maybe, just maybe, if you go to the feild on a warm summer day, you'll see the fairies too.
