It was nearly dusk at the castle. I was trying to spend as much time around it as I could before it would be remodeled as a tourist resort. The threadbare carpets and peeling wallpaper did need some work, but I had a feeling the owner wasn't just going to touch up on it. I stepped out to the woods just beyond the walls and breathed in the cool autumn air. I hung around watching the sunset and was about to go back when I remembered the groceries needed at the market. I was buying the tomatoes, spinach, and cheese when another shopper casually asked me where I was staying. I told her I was staying at the castle and she laughed.
"What's wrong about staying in a castle?" I asked.
"You must be joking! That castle burned down last year, you can't live in it!"
I told her it was perfectly intact, although run down, but she just laughed and walked away. I asked the stall owner if there were any other castles in the area, but he said that there was a castle, but it burned
I walked back to the castle, puzzled. I felt stunned when I saw, instead of a giant oak tree, a burned stump. I walked faster, and dropped the spinach when I saw the burned remains of a castle.
