I'm not much of a traveler. All the planning, packing, getting there, getting around, getting back - it's too much trouble. I prefer my mini vacations. I can find a quiet park bench in a shady spot, and find total relaxation in noticing the flowers that I would have otherwise walked past without a glance; or watching children play and remembering a backyard game of war that I haven't thought about in decades; or just listening and hearing the sounds of nature that I never seem to have time to notice. Until, that is, a passing truck roars by to drown out the children's laughter, mask the smell of the flowers with diesel fumes, and blow away the insects with its backwash. But at least the next vacation is only as far away as the next park bench.
