Arriving ten minutes late for the party, I could feel my heart rate quicken as I looked at this amazing house. Boy, was I dreading this "event." Although I knew there would be lots of good food--gourmet salmon and salsa tarts--even dreaming about the epicurean rapture awaiting me could not conquer my sense of dread. Did I really belong with such a distinguished crowd? The super successful writers and publishers of Vancouver all gathered together to schmooze. What did I know about schmoozing? Time for practicing the Steps was my only thought. And there he was, my Inner Self. Like he was just waiting for me to call him up. I joined hands with him and shouted, "Listen!" Suddenly my performance anxiety subsided and I thought, heck this will be as easy as talking to Mr. Ed!
