You will see squirrels digging up nuts all the time. These are nuts that they find, most likely they were buried by some other squirrel. This is how I feel as the media specialist. Many times students come with a nut to crack, an assignment that another teacher has assigned, and I help to give them tools and/or a path to follow that helps them accomplish their goals. I don't always conform to the stereotypical library/librarian. This can cause a bit of discomfort at first, but I have found, if you keep on keeping on, people get used to it. Often I find that the lack of access to technology tools handicaps students', teachers' and my desire to move forward, but by working to find a way around problems, we are often able to create a beautiful masterpiece of learning!
