There are places that are meant for reunions. Some of those reunions are fated or at least people think so. I have never believed in fate because I think things simply happen and when they do we are not usually in control.
But what would happen if you could really control one of these random events?
It was autumn, leaves everywhere and a chilly air that makes you regret every time you forget your scarf. I was walking through a park when a boy in a bike ran into me. I wasn't hurt badly but he hit his knee pretty hard. He looked around 12 or 13 years old. I decided to help him I had nothing else to do anyway. I helped him walk back to house, which wasn't too far, and his sister opened the door.
I saw in that moment something that caught my attention entirely, she wore a trinket one that look oddly familiar. She thanked me and I left. When walking back through the same park I saw an old lady selling trinkets. She taught me how to make some when I was a kid but we stopped talking for some reason I can't remember. I got closer and saw a green colored heart. I bought it. I still don't know why.
Then I walked into a part of the park that with a single lamp in the middle, it was getting dark but the lamp lit up and then she walked by. I remembered, she was a girl I met a long time ago, the pain of rejection came back to me. She walked to me and greeted me. I didn't know what to say, the pain and love came back to live so hard that it felt like someone knocking on the bathroom door after taking too long in the shower.
All I did was take out the heart trinket and give it to her, she hugged me back. I still cannot contemplate the order of the events. It turns out I was not the only one filled with regret and she kissed me.
From that day I decided to just live as I walk, but this time I want it to have direction.
