about this story

The old man looked across the river, as he had done in vain every day for the last seventy years. For seventy years he had continuously searched for the magical golden llama that his mother first told him about when he 10 years old.

He remembered that day like it was yesterday. His mother made him go with her to her hair dresser. He wanted to stay home and climb trees, but his mother insisted. He dreaded those hair dresser days. All those old ladies, pinching his cheeks and telling him he was so cute and asking him how old he was. And that day at the hair dresser went as badly as all of the other trips. Until the old ladies, including his mother started talking about the golden llama.

The story goes that 400 years ago the golden llama was lost after it fell off of a king's ship in the middle of the ocean. It washed ashore, and wandered into desert near Winslow, Arizona. It had never been seen since. But the person who found it would be rich for life.

The old man had looked across the river from this same spot for seventy years, and had never even found one single llama hair.

Well maybe tomorrow.
