Waiting, always waiting
The hunger lingers like an irritating fly
Always waiting,

Looking out over the thirsty desert
Still hungering as a mosquito does for blood
Then it appears,

A Sheep! Food!
The hunger won’t stay for long
The hunt begins, it’s the start of a race,

But the clouds come, the bad ones
The sky shuts, the sun suppressed
The wind approaches,

Slinking back to the den,
The hunger still there,
Prominent, a needle in the side,

Waiting, always waiting…
