about this story

This is a story in metaphor and is meant to describe an event in my otherwise uneventful workday.

1. I work at a museum. Today, we had a RUSH of students from Deschambault Lake come in.

2. Usually this early in the season we spend our days archiving. We have more than 33000 envelopes, like the ones in this picture, all containing negatives from the pictures used in the local paper.

3. Around us, we usually see something like this image... wide open, empty space.

4. But not today. Today we had a group of 17 kids come into the museum. The thing about kids on school trips is they do not stand together nicely and quietly like the ones in this picture. They run absolutely mad.. particularly when their teacher decides that they do not need a tour of the museum and can go where they please.

5. They stayed about an hour and it was HECTIC. I'm pretty sure each one of us looked like the guy in this picture at the end of their time with us... Dazed and ready to shut out the world for the rest of the day!!!
