He left the hotel, early morning, long before even the staff had stirred. It was still nearly midday and swelteringly hot before he reached the rendezvous. He took the pen drive with the top secret material on it from a man he only knew by his first name 'Tariq'. He left as quickly as possible and reached the double agent's home just as night fell. The next day he was back in is office in New York, acting as if he'd been on a routine business trip.
