It hit my consciousness like a ton of bricks. We were all lined up...in rows, like the toy soldiers we used to play with as kids. Not wanting to draw attention to myself, I look around. Slowly. The hues are drab, black and white, as if I'm watching a movie from the 1940's.
What is even more shocking was that we are the only ones here! It is as if life in the city has been obliterated. Other than the group I am standing with, there is no one else on the streets. Most of the group are staring at the lone figure at the head of our six lines.
Some, like me are looking around cautiously...
