Five Card Story: A Day in the Town

about this story
In a small historic town located on the coast of Virginia, Luke watches the sunset from his back porch, just like he has every night before for as long as he can remember. As he watches the sunset, he thinks about his plans for the next day; perhaps he'd like to take a walk next to the war memorial? After reading the names off the bottom of the war memorial of all those who lost their lives, he thinks he'd like to come home for lunch and have chicken noodle soup, yum! Once finishing his favorite fall lunch, he plans on taking a walk through downtown and window shopping with his son John. At the end of the street that serves as the main road in the downtown area, Luke thinks that he'd like to take John to the park to play with some of his friends. Taking one more glance at the sunset, Luke smiles, it's just another day in paradise enjoying the rich history and atmosphere of a town he is proud to raise his son in.
