about this story

The day started as normal as ever, the school buses were rolling us into town ever so slowly. Everyone was just staring out the windows with glazed over expressions in their eyes and no one was quite paying attention to anything the other would say. All we were doing was staring out at the cracks in the buildings around us, I think about how run down this place is now and I can see the animals roaming the town looking for scraps. I get nostalgic as I think of the prosperity that this place once held, the tall buildings, the proud people. They were all gone now though, all that is left are the old cars in the overgrown lawns of the people who once cared what their neighbors were doing or how they appeared to other people. Everyone had lost that sense of purpose, even the buildings and animals.
