about this story

She saw the cork in the bowl on the kitchen counter as she had seen countless other times when her husband opened another bottle to feed his addiction. However, this cork was the last cork that she would look at. This was her limit. No longer would she sit quietly by as he gave in to his alcoholism. A rolling stone gathers no moss, and the moss in her life reeked of wine. She gathered her things in a small bag and opened the front door. As she stepped out, she noticed that the sky looked larger today, as if it went on forever. She would follow the clouds and let the wind take her pain away, leaving it behind with him. As she walked, she came across a pool of water and fountains. She was reminded of her baptism and the holy water that God used to wash her heart clean and set her spirit free. She had been so thirsty for love and wondered how could she have forgotten about the effect of God in her life to quench that thirst. As a dogwood blossom from a nearby tree fell at her feet, she felt better because she knew that like the spring comes after the winter, so she will be renewed with time as well.
