The fire was lit, and the ritual nearly complete. Johnah knew what was done this night could not be undone. The scientist, the magician, the writer, all those who knew better, were impotent against the opportunity to taste the world beyond there own. They swore never to speak to each other, and never return.
Johnah went into contemplative isolation, tilting his head slowly from one side to the next, rolling the thought around like a marble on a balanced plank.
He dreamt of the land marks, but they were riddled with options creating his paralysis.
Age became his closest confidant as he waited.
