about this story

She drinks away her days, drowning herself in the bitter sweetness of her cheap wine. She drinks to numb the shame. She drinks to get through her day job. Her only source of income is her clients. She drinks so much; everything is blurring. She spirals down, down, down, in a whirl wind of pain. Glass after glass, bottle after bottle, everything is numbed. Every day is the same. Wake up, pour tequila on her cheerios, drink wine all day, waiting or her clients to show up. When they do, they get what they came for, pay and leave. She's alone; desperate and alone. It's the same routine, over and over again. Until one day she doesn't wake up. Around her are the previous nights' bottles, with her half smoked cigarettes. She's still wearing her work clothes: thigh highs, black lace lingerie, one black stiletto is on the floor, the other on the bed. One of her arms is still cuffed to the bed and her neck is already bruised. Her sorrow, her agony, her hatred, it's all gone. But so is she. One lonely soul, consumed by darkness, never to feel again. He got away with it, taking her life. He called it a mercy kill.
