about this story

Brother John was a monk in St. Francis' monastery. He would often go and tend to the poor, but this day he decided to embark on a spiritual journey. He was drawn to the ruins at the top of the sacred peak. On his way, he passed an ancient tree, likely at least a thousand years old. Here, he had an epiphany. With his new found insight and his journey complete, he donned his newly whitened robes and spiffy blue tie, and ascended to Heaven.
