The lake had been contaminated for years. The county had even put a large fence around it. However at dawn, the twins decided to play hookey and see if they could catch a fish that glowed in the dark. As the sun was rising over the lake, the boys went looking for worms on the bank. Suddenly Jimmy gasped, "Look Aaron! That's old man Potter's favorite mare Sunshine! She must have gotten through the fence and drank from the lake! I'm getting out of here!" The twins ran like a banshee was on their heels. They were late for homeroom, but told Mrs. Crabtree that their mom's car had broken down on the way to school and that they had to ride a city bus.
