I never understood why I was named Shadow. That makes me sound so boring and shy, like all I want to do is stay hidden away. But that is exactly the opposite of what I want. I dream of adventures, big adventures. Like riding ships out on the sea, standing on the bow, and feeling the salty breeze whip against my ears, tearing off my red collar. Ugh, that collar. That collar just reminds me of my weekly walks with my master in the park. Those dangerous walks, where you never know what kinds of slithering creatures are lurking in the bushes. Don't get me wrong, I love my home in the city, but the brick buildings and lamp posts are all the same when I'm walking down the street. Oh well, I suppose I will have to settle for those short vacations outside of the city. At least I can feel the wind against my snout for a short time. Yeah, that'll do for now, but mark my word, one day it'll be different. One day, I'll be able to taste that salt on my own nose.
