I pull up after several hours of driving and walk up the stairs to my new apartment. The room is dark, dank, with a stagnant smell permeating my presence. I see that no one has been here for months -- no air, no movement except for the dead roach sitting on the window sil. I go over to the window, push the dusty sheer aside to open the window and let the fresh air come through. The breeze comes through and along with it is the sun, casting a shadow on the floor.
