Five Card Story: Watching

about this story
I silently walk through the empty city streets. The light blue sky showers the ground that has nothing on it. The trees and plants on my right are covered in dew, little gems that decorate the leaves. The small cliffs are carved with elaborate illustrations, skulls, animals, and pictures of little importance dot the smooth rock's edge. The bushes start to grow berries of various colors, blue, blood red, and royal purple, that dot their many branches. The small houses line the suburb streets on my right, some of their lights flicker on and off, signaling that the residents are slowly waking up. I keep walking, slowly taking in the many sights around me as I walk closer to the city. I arrive at my destination, an old building made of gray stone. The dry ground around it was covered in dying plants and old trees. It's aged exterior masked the secret inside. With one last gaze at my surroundings, the trees, the rocks, the houses, the hurried people rushing to their jobs, and the others who don't seem to care what is going to happen, and walk in.
