about this story

The sweet white-furred friend never failed to make him smile. Sadie's favorite game of fetch would always take place in the backyard after dinner. Sam would throw sticks high and low for Sadie to tackle. One evening Sam decided to run inside to grab his iPhone to take a photo of her. He would resume their game of fetch once he returned, however, when he did, Sadie had disappeared. Sam rushed anxiously along a familiar linear path just behind the backyard. He yelled for her name repeatedly and observed every angle of the forest. He paw prints imprinted in the mud, so he continued to follow them, no matter how far out he traveled. He discovers a creek ahead and hears the sound of the water quickly flowing through large rocks. Behind this white noise he hears small squeals and squeaks. He moves like the speed of lightening across the creek; jumping from rock to rock. He is hypnotized by this terrible sound and hopes for Sadie's safety. He doesn't seem to pay attention to where he's heading but, suddenly finds himself in an alleyway downtown. He quickly asks a biker, with jumbled worlds and impair speech, if he has spotted a small white-furred friend. The biker responds with an irritated 'No', and seemed to return to repairing his bike brakes. Exhausted from his search, Sam decides to make his trek back home and beings to plan out strategies in his head. He looked up at the sky to find a beautiful sunset gleaming on his cheekbones. It seemed to give him a warm feeling that he once felt before. There was not a cloud in the sky, except for one small linear line due to a trace of an airplane. The line had been pointing into the direction of his home. In this moment, Sam knew he was given a sign. He ran the rest of the way home and once he reached his doorstep he inserted his keys in a jittery manner. He threw the door open to find Sadie sitting there right before his eyes; tail-wagging with an adorable grin.
