Sitting in the passenger seat of mom's car
It's no surprise that I am in a hurry once again,
Steady, speeding, safety along the street
Will I be late for school once again
Please, mother, don't get caught by the flashing angry red traffic light
As we head toward the intersection
The traffic light jumps out in front of us and instantly flashes from green to red
The car squeals as my mom slams on the brakes
The red color matches the anger on my face
I yell "Mom, you could have made it"
I wish my mom drove her mini like my dad drives his red corvette
She drives too cautious and I am always late for class
and for after-school soccer practice at the green turf field
Riding with her is as slow as waiting for your order from a street food vendor
I wish she drove more like a rugged truck driver passing us by in his red semi truck
