about this story

Rover knew there was trouble when the police arrived. The riderless motorcycle was a definite sign that something had impeded the mission. You see, he and his quadruped friends were the ring leaders for the nefarious gang of porch pirates. Thus, Rover began running to find help. He had to maneuver through the woods and past pedestrians in order to arrive at the private rendezvous point designated for all porch pirates, the masters of manipulating mail order deliveries. Upon entering, he revealed a secret weapon to locate the missing members of the canine clan. The homing device sent a high-pitched signal to all of the box burglars which alerted them to abort the mission. The pooches disappeared without a trace, and the mayor was forced to acknowledge his failure to protect the citizens of his town and exclaimed that society was "Going to the dogs!"
