Tom had an affair with a women behind his wife's back. This happened with his first marriage as well. Things went to an extreme and he ended up killing the woman he was having an affair with. This all was discovered after his first wife saw him with the woman he was with when she was drunk. It took her a long time to put the pieces together but she eventually did.
