about this story

Switching the Christmas lights and the snowy field

I walk through the old book store, looking at the books on the shelf. I can see a layer of dust coating the tops of some of the old ones. They're beautiful, the intricate gold designs on some of them. I choose a few off of the shelf, and brush off the dust. Admiring the details, I carry my books to the counter. I greet the lady at the desk as she scans my books. Then I turn around and walk out the door, and see my dog excitedly waiting for me. I untie him from the post, and start to walk home. I decide to take the long way. I take a turn and start walking on the dirt path. Its snowy out here, so I pick up my dog until the snow clears so he doesn't get too cold. His claws scratch the top of my books, and I panic. I look at them to make sure he hasn't ruined them, and thankfully he hasn't. It starts to get darker, and I turn into my neighborhood. Christmas lights light up the street with a warm glow. I shiver, and I'm glad to make it back to my house. I place the books on the counter, and grab some wood to start a fire. It's heat fills the room, and my dog snuggles up on the rug.
