The cat house was the last one on the block. No one wanted to go there, for it reeked of cat fur. That poor old lady. On Halloween, no one rang her doorbell, so she always had candy leftover. The house was old and run-down. The old lady was getting forgetful. One day she went to get the newspaper off her driveway, But forgot to close the door behind her. All of a sudden, like a faucet being turned on, the cats went everywhere. I saw the action and ran to help catch them. there were about 30 cats around the neighborhood. As I returned a few more cats to the house, I heard a car horn. I looked back to see an ambulance speeding towards a cat lying there on the road, I turned away in horror. A few more were found in various dumpsters around the block, today was trash day. after a few hours of cat hunting the old lady turned towards me as I locked the gate to her backyard.
"Thank you, little one" She said to me.
After that day, I never trusted a front door to keep animals inside.
