about this story
In the beginning, only the smallest sparks of desire scattered themselves almost randomly in the darkness. I had no idea yet what was or could be, but I knew there more was becoming possible. I sensed the reflections of connection, not yet clear, but branching, reaching out of the mud for something new and wonderful. Yes, possibility knocked on the door. I tried to answer, but at first things didn't go as planned. Elegant and lovely missteps were strewn here and there, locked just feet from their true potential. But then, as if it is was always meant to be, I saw it or it saw me (one can never be sure of these things), rolling slowly down the street, keys in the ignition, no one at the wheel, no papers or plates - it was mine - the 1966 GMC truck I never quite knew I wanted until I got it.
