從前從前在軍中有個時辰響號手，在黎明破曉與夜幕降臨前會吹響雄健的號角，作為軍中的鬧鐘
所以軍中的弟兄們都十分仰賴時辰響號手，每天在他吹響號角時起床，吹響號角時入眠
但安穩的日子並沒有持續太久，有天，從更上頭的軍營來了幾名軍官，說時辰響號手的號角聲太過優美，不符合軍中的紀律，所以想在隔天與他聚餐，聊聊此事
響號手其實有個悲催的故事，他在進入軍營前只是個沒人欣賞的街頭音樂家，是有天他們軍營的隊長碰巧撞見了他，才將他帶入軍中，成為眾人的精神依靠
響號手覺得在軍中找到了自己的價值，理所當然地，也不想改變那一如既往的旋律
為此，響號手想到了一個妙招
聚餐當天到來了
長官們與響號手興高采烈地入座
宴席上桌，雖然只是隨便的飯菜，在軍中卻也顯得有些豪華
長官們開心的吃著，正要進入正題時突然出現一陣槍響，長官們不免有點驚慌失措
剎那間，隊長衝進飯廳，腰間夾著一把不知從何而來的槍瘋狂掃射，來不及反應的長官們倒的七橫八豎
在慌亂之際，響號手也不知為何消失了，留下幾個還留下一口氣的長官苟延殘喘
原來長久以來的號角聲對軍中形成了催眠，一直以來待在軍中的所有人都成為了響號手的囊中物
最後響號手獨自一人走出軍營，伴隨著血腥的濕黏氣味點起一根菸，走向下個目標地點
