Last weekend I visited a zoo in Toronto with my friend, Livia. We paid for our tickets and walked in. I glanced to my right, and staring back at me was a stone rabbit perched in a bed of yellow flowers. It gave me chills, so I kept walking. We passed an emerald tree boa that was crawling around in its tank and then came to a stop in front of the gorillas. Livia, having been an animal lover, thought the gorillas were beautiful. She desperately wanted to play with them, but there was a "ATTENTION: DO NOT TOUCH THE GORILLAS" sign. My stomach started to growl, so I told Livia I would buy us some snacks. She stood motionless, watching the gorillas roam their enclosure while I walked toward the concession stand. As I walked back with two ice cream cones in my hand, I searched for my friend among the sudden crowd that had gathered in front of the enclosure. I couldn't see her familiar face anywhere in the sea of people. The only thing I saw was people's horrified expressions and piercing screams. Approaching the enclosure, I noticed a gorilla sitting near the glass and chewing on something. I didn't think anything of it until I saw Livia's hat sitting at its feet.
