As the glowing sun was setting on the last day of my honeymoon, and on my life as I knew it, I wondered, “Is this the high we live for?”. The five days spent in Exuma, Bahamas included swimming with pigs, zip lining through a canopy of trees, ice cold Coca-Cola’s at every meal, and a nightly firestorm of cantankerous words that turned into arguments typically seen around the end of marriages-not the beginning. The final combustion was one evening as we sat out the deck, overlooking the trees, in our Adirondack chairs, fighting over nothing and everything. There was a fire smoldering in my soul, whispering to me: “9-1-1, emergency, get out”. Something ignited in me and I knew the courthouse where we had just signed our marriage license would be the same place we would soon visit again-to file for divorce. As the burning sun arose on the first day of the rest of my life, I wondered: have I lived more good days than bad, more happy than sad, more highs than lows, more living than dying; am I letting life burn so that I can #livepositively…
