Tom was mute, but he was considered a good neighbour. A man went out for a walk when it was getting dark. He went to a lake that was close to his home. There, he was assaulted by a young man who dealt him a fatal blow to the head. Tom died. Newspapers all over the area wrote about this unfortunate event.
