about this story
I'm stumbling through a forest, the wind hitting my face. I see a tree with a message. It's guiding me to where I want to go. I make out the word "OK". What does that even mean. I continue to move past the tree and am suddenly in the street. It's unclear how I got here and barely recognizable. My sight is floundering and my focus will not come. I turn the corner into the darkness of a backyard where there is a pool. So many questions flood my brain. How did I get here? Why is it so dark? Should I go in this pool? I am standing still as my thoughts race and look down to see the color leak out of the flowers below, creating an even bluer color in the pool in front of me. I'm stunned, fearful and confused. My vision is flickering and then I hear a loud CLAP of thunder. I'm shocked and attempt a trapped scream. I suddenly feel myself sit up straight in my bed, shaken awake by the sounds and wind from the open window and watch a flash of light as I realize I've been dreaming.
