Joe doesn't belong to the streets, the streets belong to him. This avenue has everything he could possibly need. To the left of his stoops is an old cemetery, where he likes to walk in the path of visitors and make them scream with fear. If he turns right from his stoop he comes upon his favorite empanada shop where the owners throw him scraps of the picadillo ones, because they know the spinach and cheese ones make him gag. There was a time when he dreamt of having a family and possibly even a little boy to explore and play with. However, as the seasons pass and the leaves change colors he knows that the streets mean freedom. The streets mean autonomy. And the streets mean empanadas.
