Richmond, VA. A city that I know and love. In fact, the 25th St East End Festival and Community Fair WILL be taking place on August 12th, and I am so happy to serve as Chair for the Steering Committee. But as I reflect, Richmond's culture at times is beautiful made evident by the Mural Project. RVA's culture can also be described as courageous and strong, as both attributes are required to embrace transformation in a variety of forms. These last few weeks have also shown us all that even though traumas can attempt to shatter our community, our culture is unbroken and unwavering in spirit. Spirit that connects us in some intricate way.
This ode to Richmond, my birthplace and home, continues to defy odds. And I am happy to be a valued community member to such a special place.
