Tina sat by herself, upset by the how her day had unfolded. She arrived late to school and was not greeted warmly upon arrival. As Tina hurried to class, she tripped in the hallway, tearing a tiny hole in her leggings, leading to a day filled with worry of the leggings ripping while in class with her peers. The rushed and worried beginning to her day chipped away at her confidence, and Tina's voice sounded wobbly as she read her poetry aloud in her English class. The day felt long and sad, and Tina sat by herself in the cold, hoping her father would be able to pick her up in a heated car at the end of the day instead of riding the chilly schools. Tina's father was fortunately able to finish his job early, and he knew immediately Tina had had a rough day. Instead of rushing home and beginning the homework-dinner-bed cycle, Tina's dad decided to take her to their favorite diner, hoping this would help Tina feel better. The warm plate of spaghetti followed by the smores-like dessert special did the the trick. The family left the diner, feeling peaceful as they spotted the first sign of spring.
