about this story

J. Scott, a young boy from Louisiana, died in a fatal, unnecessary car accident in 1978. Toby, his beloved pet frog, was unbuckled in the back. J. Scott's parents, the famous lawyers Joseph Scott and Maria Watkins, sued the city after they learned the uneven roads and a pothole caused their son's car to collide with a the median wall. The Scott-Watkins family earned a settlement of $350,000 to build a 5-foot statue of their son and his frog. Forty-five years later, a famous TikToker named Brittany H. discovered the statue and started a trend of rubbing statue animals' heads for luck. Now, people flock like seagulls to rub Toby the frog's head for good luck and more followers.
